MEANING OF RESEARCH WORTHY PROBLEM


                    

DEFINITION:

  According to, Ellis and Levy (2008)  a research-worthy problem as an impactful problem that does not have a current viable solution and solving it will result in “an original contribution to the applicable body of knowledge”                   



 Ellis and Levy (2008) outline a process for developing a research-worthy problem: look, read, synthesize, and consult.


Look at personal interests and experiences.


Read scholarly literature to learn about what has already been discovered and what gaps need to be filled.

  

Synthesize scholarly literature to identify similarities and differences.


Consult by seeking feedback from an experienced researcher.







3. INTENSIVE IMPACT OR COMPREHENSIVE INFLUENCE



The researcher should select a problem which having long term impect on the particular problem.

Researcher should not select a problem which only having very short term impect.



4. TESTABILITY OR MEASURABILITY


The research problem should have some testable or measurable things with respect to parameters.


5. JUSTIFIABILITY


The research problem must be justifiable.

Researcher should avoid unjustified problems.
